Birding Resources
National Audubon Society
The National Audubon Society is the grand daddy of America’s birding organizations. Audubon’s mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity.
Audubon Minnesota
Audubon Minnesota was founded in 1979 and believes that what is good for birds is good for people, too, including healthy habitats, clean water, and clean air. We deliver conservation results by focusing on programs supported by science, education, and advocacy.
Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge
MRVAC partners closely with the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. We hold our monthly program meetings at the Bloomington Visitor Center, most of our field trips take place at Refuge locations, and every year some of our grant money goes to fund educational resources at the Refuge.
Minnesota Ornithologists' Union (MOU)
The Minnesota Ornithologists’ Union is an organization of both professionals and amateurs interested in birds, headquartered at the Bell Museum at the University of Minnesota. Browse through MOU’s website for tons of information, or subscribe to their MOU-net alerts.
If you’re looking for a checklist of Minnesota’s state birds, look no further than the MOU: one-page State Checklist (pdf) and annotated State Checklist.
